Tranexamic acid Description:

Fibrinolysis is associated with fibrin breakdown and increased vascular permeability of the body under physiological or pathological conditions. It is also associated with the development of the body reaction, various bleeding symptoms, and allergy caused by fibrinolysis. Tranexamic acid inhibits the action of this plasmin and shows hemostasis, anti-allergy, and anti-inflammatory effects.

Anti-fibrinolytic activity

The tranexamic acid binds strongly to the lysine binding site (LBS) of the fibrin-affinity site on plasmin and plasminogen and strongly inhibits the binding of plasmin, plasminogen, and fibrin. Fibrinolysis caused by plasmin is strongly inhibited. In addition, in the presence of serum anti-fibrinolytic enzymes such as α2 macroglobulin, tranexamic acid is more resistant to fibrinolysis and hemostasis is more pronounced.

Hemostatic effect

Abnormally hyperactive plasmin will cause platelet aggregation inhibition and decomposition of coagulation factors. Mild hyperthyroidism first leads to the breakdown of fibrin. Therefore, considering the general bleeding, tranexamic acid can inhibit fibrin decomposition and play a hemostatic effect.

Tranexamic acid inhibits the production of kinins and other active peptides that cause increased vascular permeability, allergies, and inflammatory lesions (guinea pigs, rats).
